Alzheimer Training – Montessori Method Adapted for Those with Dementia.

Objectives:

Understand the Montessori philosophy, its principles, its approach, and how to apply it to people with dementia and other related diseases.

Change our perceptions of the people concerned.

Refocus on the person. Learn to understand, empower and interact with him/her.

Enable professionals to better identify, and therefore, solicit and use the abilities preserved in people with dementia (remaining abilities) and therefore, change their views and their attitudes toward those they care for.

To allow for the adaptation, creation, and implementation of daily life activities adapted to the difficulties, capacities, interests and personal tastes of the people in order to increase their engagement .

To allow the person to attain a certain functional level of autonomy through freedom of choice and a sense of control over their own life.

To allow people with dementia to take on social roles and to increase their sense of belonging to a community, notably through meaningful activities and by allowing them to participate as actors in their community.

Introduce them to a process for dealing with problematic behaviors, by working with them to find ideas and solutions for a concrete cases encountered in their work or living environment.

Professionals taking this training will benefit from enhanced communication skills at both verbal and nonverbal levels, when working with the cognitively impaired.

Timing for Individual Certified Training Program:

12 hours training: 4 modules of 3 hours each (virtual).

Each online session runs from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Eastern

1.5 hours coaching:  1 follow-up support session (virtual) which is scheduled for approximately 1 month after completion of the 12-hour training program.

Fee:  $380.00 per person 

The cost of the training includes all 4 modules and support tools plus the complimentary 1.5 hour follow up support session.

Individual practitioners in health/social services/community organizations serving those with cognitive disabilities.

Certification: 

A certificate will be awarded to participants contingent upon their participation in the 4 training sessions and the complimentary follow-up session.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

No refunds will be made less than 10 days before the event.

A registered participant who cannot attend the training they have registered for may request a refund up until 10 days prior to the start of the program. Alternatively, the participant may attend a future session or send a substitute.

We reserve the right to postpone or cancel sessions when circumstances dictate. In the case of rescheduling or cancellation, registered participants will be contacted and offered the opportunity to attend a rescheduled session or receive a refund of their fee.
