Adapted Activities

ADAPTED ACTIVITIES CONFERENCE (Zoom)

New date coming soon.

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM EASTERN

Have you ever wondered what the tangible results would be – or exactly how people with dementia would actually benefit by engaging in meaningful, adapted activities that will suit their needs and environment?

Well, here’s a list of some proven powerful and desirable results and benefits that come with engaging individuals with dementia in meaningful adapted activities:

  • Reduced occurrences of disruptive behaviors like agitation, shouting and wandering
  • Diminished symptoms of depression
  • Enhanced sleep patterns
  • Slower cognitive decline and reduced loss of independence
  • Decreased reliance on medical prescriptions
  • Enhanced quality of life

Just think of how much more harmonious and peaceful the environment would be if even some of these results were achieved.

This conference offers you professional development, practical solutions and know-how.

This 2-hour conference is intended for those who interact with people who are living with dementia and are interested in discovering the positive benefits of creating and offering activities adapted specifically for the cognitively impaired.

Objective:

The objective is to provide participants with an understanding of how the Montessori method is adapted for the cognitively impaired and to give participants practical advice on how to use the Montessori approach to create activities for persons living with dementia

What you will learn during this conference:

  • How to create and present Montessori based activities
  • How to prepare the environment when creating adapted activities
  • How to adapt to the needs of individuals with dementia and create activities that will:
      • use their preserved capabilities
      • provide a sense of purpose and engagement in their daily lives
      • preserve their dignity.

After the conference, participants will have gained an appreciation for the adapted Montessori method and the benefits of introducing Montessori-based activities into the daily lives of people living with dementia.

The instructor will demonstrate how the introduction of these activities can make it possible for those with dementia to have meaning and purpose in their lives.
